First ride on sportiest Bonneville: the Hyde Harrier article de Motorcyclesnews
The latest Hyde Harrier is the sportiest, most enticing road-going
Bonneville ever made, MCN can reveal after an exclusive first ride.
Ohlins suspension and a chassis made by race gurus Harris mean it
handles, and Triumph legend Norman Hyde has tuned the parallel engine
to make 82bhp. That might seem moderate compared to modern sportsbikes,
but it’s so lusty you end up riding deceptively fast.
The bike we’re riding is the first running Hyde Harrier Jubilee – an
off-the-shelf sports chassis kit for donor 790cc, or 865cc
Hinckley-built Triumph Bonneville engines.
It’s 21 years since Hyde produced the original 1988 Hyde Harrier,
and as you’d imagine, nothing is carried over from the original –
today’s Hinckley-built engines are completely different, meaning a new
frame and swingarm had to be fabricated. This work was carried out by
Harris Performance.
